Mango salsa🥭🌶️
If summer had a taste, it would definitely be this mango salsa! 🌞
With Cinco de Mayo right around the corner, I thought it would be the perfect time to share one of my favorite, no-fail recipes. Mango salsa is truly a recipe that never lets you down. 🙂 It has the most wonderful balance of fruity sweetness, zesty tanginess, and a hint of spice — making it an irresistible addition to so many meals.
How to Customize This Mango Salsa? 🎨
Whether you’re running low on a few ingredients or simply want to create a unique twist, here are some easy ways to customize your mango salsa:
🍍 Fruit Alternatives:
If you don’t have mangoes on hand or want to experiment with new flavors, try adding pineapple, peaches, grapes, or strawberries.
These fruits add their own unique sweetness and texture — and trust me, we love all of these variations! 🍓🍇🍑
🌶️ Heat Level Adjustment:
- If you prefer just a little kick 🌶️, stick with jalapeño peppers.
- For a spicier version, swap in habanero peppers 🌶️🔥 — they bring the heat!
- And if you’re a true spice lover, adding a few Thai chili peppers will definitely turn it up a notch. 🔥
🥗 Vegetable Alternatives:
Want to mix it up even more? You can easily add capsicum (bell peppers), sweet corn, tomatoes, or even all of them together! 🌽🍅🌶️
These add-ins make the salsa even more colorful, hearty, and exciting.
Can you freeze mango salsa?❄️🥭
Technically, yes, you can freeze mango salsa. ❄️ However, it’s important to note that the texture will likely change after freezing and thawing.
Mangoes have a high water content, so once frozen and defrosted, they tend to become soft and mushy. 🥲
While it will still taste good, the fresh, crisp texture that makes mango salsa special will be affected. For the best experience, enjoy it fresh!
How long does mango salsa stay fresh in the fridge?
When stored in an airtight container, mango salsa stays fresh for about 3 to 5 days in the refrigerator.
🥭✨ It tastes absolutely best within the first day or two when the flavors are bright and the ingredients are still crisp.
After a two days, the salsa will begin to break down and become mushier, although it will still be safe to eat for 5 days in total. After that, please discard it.
Ingredients
Below are the ingredients required to make mango salsa.
🥭 Mangoes: Choose red Mexican mangoes that are perfectly ripe — not too hard and not overly soft.
🌿 Cilantro: I love adding fresh cilantro to salsa recipes. It brings a burst of herbal freshness that elevates all the other flavors.
🌶️ Jalapeños: To add just the right touch of heat without overpowering the sweetness of the mangoes.
🧅 Onions: You can use red or white onions — both work beautifully! I personally prefer red onions for their slightly sweet taste and crisp texture.
🍋 Flavors: A simple mix of lemon juice, salt, and pepper is all you need to tie everything together perfectly!
How to(with photos)
Making mango salsa is super easy and can be done in just three simple steps:
- Chop Your Produce ✂️
Finely dice the mangoes, red onions, cilantro, and jalapeños. The smaller, the better for the perfect scoopable salsa! - Mix Everything Together 🥣
Place all the chopped ingredients into a large mixing bowl and gently stir to combine them evenly. - Add the Flavors 🍋🧂
Drizzle fresh lemon juice over the salsa, then season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Toss once more to distribute the flavors throughout.
🎉 And that’s it! Your better-than-store-bought homemade mango salsa is ready to enjoy!
