A few days back, This recipe came to rescue the morning hassles. But I got stuck with the cold and fever so couldn't update it on-time.
Green gram is very healthy but we usually don't like to have it. I have shared sprout salad recipe few days back but you know what I found this pancake recipe a better way to consume green grams 😉
To, prepare this recipe, You have to soak whole green grams for 3 to 4 hour at least. I usually soak them overnight for the morning breakfast. Also, soak rice for 2 to 3 hour at-least but again I keep them overnight 😉
For the spices, I used ginger and green chilies but you can use chili flakes or black pepper powder along with the ginger and green chili. I used homemade rice flour here. The main use of rice flour is for binding so that you can easily spread the batter on the hot tava.
I love these lentil pancakes with fresh homemade curd and highly suggest to serve this with curd. You can serve this with tomato ketchup or green chutney if you like but for me curd worked the best 🙂

so, how to make moong dal pancakes recipe? step by step photos:
Clean and soak moong (whole green gram) for 3-4 hours/overnight. also soak rice as well. you can soak both together in the same bowl or separately. * for the video purpose, I soaked both in different bowls.
Now, drain the lentils and transfer it to a mixer jar.
add ginger, green chili and curry leaves as well.
Grind them with little water to make a smooth batter and transfer it in a bowl.
Add chopped onions into the mixture.
Add rice flour and salt. mix the batter well.
Add water and adjust the consistency.
Heat a griddle/tawa for a minute. Lower the flame and smear little oil on the pan.
Take a ladle full of batter and pour on the center of the griddle. Immediately spread it on the pan in circular motion to make a round pancake. don't spread too much as we want to make a thick pancakes here.
Add few drops of oil on the edges and let it cook for 5 mins atleast.
Flip, add few drops of oil and let it cook for another minute.
Serve it hot with Curd or ketchup or chutney.

Love a savory pancake! Delicious any time of the day. What brand of food processor do you use to grind the lentil? I have burned up the motor on so many devices grinding up dal. Your's must be industrial strength. Take Care
Priya Jo
Hey i just use the regular mixer grinder... one thing you have to keep in mind while working with lentils that they should be soaked properly before grinding..will give you the product link soon..
