I prepared this pizza using my homemade pizza dough and also assembles the topping with homemade pizza sauce.

I am not a HUGE fan of pizzas.But I like to do experiment with toppings. I always store soaked chickpeas in a refrigerator for back plans. oh yes, before soaking check out this soaking and sprouting guide as a reference if you are new to cooking.

so for this chickpea pizza topping, I used regular boiled chickpeas. for the tangy flavor, I used tomato ketchup only which you can easily get from the market. later I just season the topping with salt and pepper. You can add chili flakes but It totally depends on your taste. usually, we add chili flakes and herb on the top at a time of eating so I am avoiding the over amount of chili flakes here.

for topping

  • 1 cup chickpeas white, boiled
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ¼ cup onion, chopped
  • ½ tsp black pepper powder, approx
  • salt to your taste
  • ¼ cup tomato ketchup

  • mozzarella cheese

Instructions

for topping preparation,

  • heat oil in pan.
  • add onion and saute.
  • add boiled chickpeas.
  • add salt.
  • add black pepper powder.
  • add tomato ketchup and mix.
  • keep aside.

final preparation,

  • flatten the dough.
  • prick the center of dough with the help of fork to prevent from fluffing up like chapati.
  • don’t forget to dust your baking tray.
  • spread pizza sauce.
  • add cheese.
  • spread pizza topping.
  • add onions.
  • add more cheese if you like.
  • bake in a preheated oven at 500 degrees fahrenheit or 200 to 250 degree celsius for about 15-20 minutes.
  • enjoy.

  • you can use any type of cheese here. Mozzarella cheese tastes great but you can use processed cheese as well.
  • brush olive oil over the sides of pizza crust to make pizza crust more crispy and golden brown.
  • freeze the leftover dough in an airtight container or zip lock bag greasing with oil. the dough stays fresh for atleast a month.
  • knead the dough well, else pizza will be chewy.
  • bake the chickpea pizza in very hot preheated oven else, the base of pizza will be raw.
