Radish is one of the healthiest vegetables. It is advisable to include radish in a diet to those who are suffering from blood pressure and diabetes.
Radish greens have more fiber, vitamins, and nutrients than the radish itself. Radish greens are filled with antioxidant properties and is also used as a medication for jaundice and rheumatism. Radish greens are edible, tasty and is not bitter at all.
Mooli aka radish is widely use in sambar recipes as well. I am sharing my very simple version here. My mom used to make this recipe along with other curries in lunch. Frankly speaking, I enjoy having this mooli curry with my mom only 😉
This recipe also known as “mooli na khariya” in gujarati where a pinch of besan is used. however, use of besan is totally optional.
I am using white radish along with its greens here. You can use red radish with greens or without greens.

Ingredients
- 1 cup radish and greens, chopped
- ¼ cup onion , chopped, 1 small
- 1 tbsp oil
- ¼ tsp mustard seeds
- ¼ tsp cumin
- a pinch of asafoetida
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder
- ¼ tsp red chili powder
- salt to taste
- ¼ cup water
Instructions
- wash radish and greens properly. chop and keep aside.
- heat oil in a pan.
- add mustard seeds.
- when they crackle add cumin and asafoetida.
- add onions and saute.
- add radish and greens.
- add turmeric powder and red chili powder.
- add salt to taste.
- add some water.
- cook until radish is soft enough.
- enjoy with chapati.
how to make mooli curry ,mooli ki subji with step by step photos:
- wash radish and greens properly. chop and keep aside.
- heat oil in a pan.
- add mustard seeds.
- when they crackle add cumin and asafoetida.
- add onions and saute.
- add radish and greens.
- add turmeric powder and red chili powder.
- add salt to taste.
- add some water.
- cook until radish is soft enough.
- enjoy with chapati.
Add the carrots and radishes and stir-fry until the edges begin to brown, 5 to 7 minutes.
