Raab is a traditional Gujarati Warm drink recipe prepared in Winters. It is usually made from wheat flour or pearl millet flour. Both the version tastes great but my mom usually makes raab from pearl millet flour. Pearl Millet Raab is also a famous winter drink recipe in the state of Rajasthan, India.
What is Raab?
Well, Raab is basically a medium-thin warm drink recipe. You can make it either from whole wheat flour or with a pearl millet flour. Raab is known as a natural home remedy to build immunity, to fight against cold and cough.
What are the Ingredients used to make Raab?
Raab is usually made from pearl millet flour. Since this is a drink recipe, You have to follow the perfect measurement ratio of water and the flour to get the right consistency. Raab is a sweet Drink recipe so Jaggery is a must needed ingredient. Apart from these three(3), Ajwain (carom seeds) and homemade ghee make the raab utterly delicious.
Can we store raab?
Yes, You can store raab. Store it in an airtight container and Deep-freeze it. You can use this raab up to 9 days. You have to deep-freeze it.

Raab – winter drink
Equipment
- deep pan
Ingredients
- 1 tsp ghee / clarified butter
- ½ tsp Ajwain/carom seeds
- ½ cup Bajra flour/pearl millet flour
- 2 cups water
- jaggery / gud to taste
Instructions
- heat your pan first.
- keep the flame medium and heat ghee.
- add ajwain(carom seeds) in the ghee.
- Add bajra(pearl millet flour) and roast.
- Roast until golden brown. Keep the flame low.
- once the flour is roasted and turns into golden brown color, Add water.
- Also add jaggery and mix well.
- Boil the mixture for 5 mins on medium flame.
- Serve hot.
Notes

- You can replace Bajara Flour with whole wheat flour. Taste will differ slightly.
- Do NOT skip jaggery. You can not use sugar in this recipe.
- This recipe is a remedy for cold and cough. I recommend to have it warm.
