Choose the right potatoes

The type of potato you use can make a big difference in the texture and flavor of your mashed potatoes. Russet potatoes are the most commonly used for mashed potatoes because they have a high starch content, which results in a fluffy and creamy texture. I like white potatoes too. This recipe is prepared with white potatoes. Yukon Gold potatoes are also a good choice because they have a buttery flavor and creamy texture. Avoid using waxy potatoes like red or new potatoes, as they tend to be firmer and won’t mash as easily.
