Instant Pot kheer is a delicious Indian-style rice pudding recipe that you can make in your very own instant pot without any worry. This rice pudding is rich, creamy, made with minimal ingredients and so tasty that you will love it for sure.
Traditional kheer recipe is made by boiling and simmering rice on low flame for about 2 to 3 hours to get the nice creamy kheer. Well, I have already shared mava rice kheer and sago kheer recipe on the blog. The instant pot was my first purchases we made after landing in Canada.
This instant pot kheer is a quick and easy recipe that you can prepare in just 20 minutes. I prepared this recipe using “pressure cook” mode however, you can try this recipe with “porridge mode” too.
Ingredients
This recipe is made with ingredients you can easily get at grocery stores.
Rice – I used sona masoori rice here. You can use basmati rice too.
Milk – Regular 2% milk works fine. I have used 2% milk here however, you can use 3.25% milk for more creamier kheer.
Other – sugar is used to add sweetness to the recipe. Cardamom powder and saffron gives nice flavor to the recipe. Dryfruit adds a nice crunch to the recipe. In fact, we can not imagine our kheer without dry fruits.
How to make kheer in instant pot?
Plug in your instant pot and place inner pot in it.
Add rice, milk, sugar, cardamom powder, and saffron. mix it.
Change the instant pot setting to manual or pressure cook mode for 20 minutes at high pressure with a vent in a sealing position. *you can set your instant pot to “porridge mode” too instead of “pressure cook” mode.

Kheer is one of our favorite desserts! We make it quite often, though we don’t have an instapot. Sometimes, we add a little rosewater, too.
Warm, cozy, delicately sweet and aromatic. What is not to love about this classic recipe.
THank you dear 🙂
All time favourite dessert! Love it!
