Dumpling recipe in this post is very much Indian ammini-kozhukattai kind of recipe as the seasoning is influenced with Indian taste. so that, one can not consider this recipe as an authentic rice flour dumplings 😉

The recipe I am sharing today is a steamed rice flour dumplings. We Gujaratis called this recipe- “khichu”. We used to prepare this recipe for our breakfast or for our evening snacks. I made these dumplings as a plain and gingery but you can add tempering/tadka of curry leaves and coconut later.

how to make rice flour dumplings?

take a heavy pan and fill it with water.add salt to your taste, ginger,green chili and cumin. mix it.

bring this water to boil.

when it starts boiling, slowly add rice flour and mix it. make sure to avoid lumps.

once you mix it properly, cover with the lid and simmer it for 6 mins.

after simmering, allow this mixture to cool down so that you can handle it. take a portion and prepare a medium size dumpling. meanwhile, prepare your steamer.

grease your pan and transfer all the dumplings and steam it for 15 mins.

serve hot.

Learn to make simple and glutenfree rice flour dumplings.

Serving Size 7 dumplings

Ingredients 

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup rice flour
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp green chili, chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger , chopped
  • ¼ tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 3 cups water, for the steamer

Instructions

  • take a pan and add water.
  • add salt, ginger,chili,cumin and oil.
  • bring this water to boil.
  • add rice flour and mix.
  • make sure to avoid lumps.
  • simmer this mixture for 4-6 mins.
  • take a portion and prepare a medium size dumpling.
  • prepare your steamer.
  • transfer this dumplings into the steamer and steam it for 10 mins.
  • serve hot. sprinkle some paprika if you like.
