Ingredients
- 1 cup basmati rice, long grain
- 2-3 cups water , to boil rice
- salt to taste
- 1 tbsp ghee / clarified butter
- 1 no bay leaf/ tejpatta
- 2 black cardamom
- 1 inch cinnamon stick
- ½ tsp jeera / cumins
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 tbsp sugar
Instructions
- Soak 1 cup basmati rice for at-least 1 hour.
- heat ghee in pan.
- add bay leaf,cardamom and cinnamon stick.
- Add sliced onion and saute it.
- add sugar and cook the mixture until caramelized.
- once the mixture is caramelized enough, add soaked rice.
- Add 2 cups of water.
- Add salt according to your taste.
- cook the rice until soften.
- Serve hot with dhansak.
