Nimbu Pani is one of our favorite summer drink recipes. Nimbu Paani is nothing but an Indian-style lemonade. Nimbu paani made with Jaggery is my mother’s favorite recipe.
At my house, We usually make nimbu paani with jaggery throughout summer. My mother loves this recipe and so as I. Before I move further, Let me tell you what is nimbu paani.
What is nimbu paani?
Nimbu paani is a sweet, sour Indian summer drink. It is a summer staple in India. Nimbu paani is a similar recipe to classic lemonade. “Nimbu” means lemon and “paani” means water. Usually, Nimbu paani is made with lemon, water, sugar, and salt. Further, flavors can be extended by adding mints, ginger, and sometimes some fresh berries.
There a lot of nimbu paani variations you will get in India. One such variation is making this classic recipe with jaggery.
Benefits of nimbu paani,
- Improves digestion.
- Helps to prevent dehydration.
- Helps to flushout toxins from the body.
- Rejuvenate skin.
- Cools down the body temperature in summer.
Ingredients to make Nimbu Paani,
Jaggery – Jaggery is the main ingredient here. It is used instead of sugar in this recipe.
Lemon juice – I prefer freshly squeezed lemon here. You can use ready-made lemon juice as well.
Other – Salt, ginger, black salt, roasted cumin powder and a pinch of red chili powder are used here for the extra flavor. You can avoid roasted cumin powder, ginger, black salt and red chili powder but salt shouldn’t be avoided.
