Mushroom pulao one of the easiest yet super tempting pulao recipe. This Pulao is perfect for busy weekday meal as This pulao is prepared under 20 min. Mushrooms are sauted and cooked along with rice and basic Indian spices.
Mushroom pulao is one of my favourite recipes as it is one of the minimal recipes I cook frequently. You just need to take care while cleaning mushrooms. Cleaning mushroom is really a bit tricky. But with the regular practice, you will get used to with it.
Pulao is a rice-based dish cooked in stock along with the vegetables, meat and other spices. I have already shared different pulao recipes here on the blog before.
According to author K. T. Achaya, the Indian epic Mahabharata mentions an instance of rice and meat cooked together. Also, according to Achaya, “pulao” or “pallao” is used to refer to a rice dish in ancient Sanskrit works such as the Yājñavalkya Smṛti.[source – wikipedia]
Basic Rice Preparation is pretty easy. I used only basic ingredients like turmeric powder, garam masala, fresh button mushrooms, salt, sliced onions etc. I always prefer to use basmati rice in pulao and biryani.
How to make mushroom pulao?
Wash and clean your mushrooms and chop it. Keep it aside.
Heat oil in a pressure cooker.
Add cumin and let them crackle. Add onion, green chili and garlic.
saute for a while.
Add chopped mushrooms and rice.
Add turmeric powder, garam masala and salt to taste. Mix well. Add water.
pressure cook it for 3 to 4 whistles on high flame.
garnish with coriander. serve hot.

- 1 cup basmati rice
- 1 cup mushroom, sliced
- salt to taste
- 1 tsp garlic , chopped
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- a pinch of Garam masala
- 1 tbsp oil
- ¼ tsp cumin
- 1 green chilli , chopped
- 1½ cup water
- fresh coriander , for garnishing
- 1 medium onion, sliced or chopped
Instructions
