Type of pakoras can vary but primarily it can be plain besan pakoras or onion pakoras. I am adding onion pakoras here.
Kadhi is again a versatile Indian recipe and versions may vary from region to region. Kadhi can be served with roti , paratha and rice. In Rajasthan and gujarat, kadhi is served with rice or khichadi. Kadhi is basically prepared from curd but in the Pakistan, curd mixture is extended with fish and eggs. while a version of kadhi served in Gujarat is sweet and sour in taste.
Back to the today’s recipe, This kadhi is rich and creamy in taste. Kasoori methi is added to enhance the flavors. because i am adding onion pakoras here, I didn’t add onions in my kadhi tadka.:)

- prepare your pakora mixture first
- deep fry your pakoras and keep them ready for the kadhi
- prepare your yogurt mixture for the kadhi

Ingredients
for pakoras,
- 1 cup onion ,sliced, 2 medium size onions [approx]
- ½ tsp red chili powder
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- a pinch of asafoetida
- ½ tsp corinader powder
- salt to taste
- ¼ cup gram flour /besan
- 2 tbsp water
- oil, to deep fry pakoras
for kadhi,
- 1 tbsp oil
- ¼ tsp mustard seeds
- ¼ tsp cumins
- 1 cup curd / yogurt
- ¼ cup gram flour / besan
- ½ cup water
- 1 tsp red chili powder, to your taste
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- salt to taste
- 5-6 nos curry leaves
- 1 medium green chilies , chopped
- 1 tbsp kasoori methi , (dry fenugreek leaves)
Instructions
preparing pakoras,
- take a large mixing bowl.
- add sliced onions.
- add gram flour.
- add turmeric powder, asafoetida, red chili powder and coriander powder.
- add salt to your taste.
- mix it. squeeze onions and mix.
- add water as required and prepare a very thick batter for the pakoras.
- heat oil.
- take a small amount of batter and gently place into the hot oil.
- fry the pakoras until golden brown.
- keep aside.
preparing kadhi,
- take a bowl add curd.
- add gram flour.
- add turmeric powder,red chili powder.
- add salt.
- add water and prepare a lump-free mixture.
- heat oil in kadai.
- add mustard seeds.
- when they crackle add cumins and asafoetida.
- add curry leaves.
- add curd mixture and mix.
- add green chilies.
- add some kasoori methi.
- boil this mixture for 7-8 mins.
- when the mixture is cooked, add pakoras and serve hot.
