When I was in India, I always prepare yogurt at home. You will find homemade yogurt in most of the Indian homes. I have already shared the “Indian style yogurt-making method here“.
This Instant pot Yogurt recipe is effortless and full proof. I was quite surprised by the functionality of Instant pot. Instant Pot basically provides the right temperature to the milk and Bacteria to ferment properly. Properly fermented milk gives a nice, tangy and perfect yogurt which you can use it in your smoothies, buttermilk, marination, raita and many more.
How to Make Yogurt in Instant Pot?
As I have said, Making yogurt in instant pot is really. Add milk to an Instant Pot. close and lock the lid. Select yogurt setting; adjust the pressure to boil. This can take up to 1 hour.
When it’s done, the Instant Pot will beep and its readout will say “Yogt.”
Cool the milk: Right after the Instant Pot beeps, turn it off and lift out the insert of hot milk. Put the thermometer in the milk and wait until it’s 116° F. This can take as long as an hour.
Put the starter in milk and whisk it properly.
Set the insert of milk back in the Instant Pot, lock on the lid (once again, the steam vent may be open or closed), and press YOGURT. If the readout does not say “8:00,” add time using the + button until it does.
The Instant Pot will incubate your yogurt for 8 hours before switching itself off (the display will read “Yogt” once the 8-hour default programming is complete). You can use the +/- button to adjust the incubation time.
Cool the yogurt to room temperature without stirring
Transfer to storage containers; The yogurt should be good for up to two weeks. As it sits in your refrigerator, it will get tangier and lose some of its body.

- For your yogurt starter, you can use either store-bought plain yogurt with active cultures or yogurt from a previous batch of homemade yogurt.
