Instant Pot Red Sauce Pasta is a Penne Pasta that is pressured cooked in Instant post and combined with some simple yet delicious tomato-based red sauce. This recipe is not only a quick one but simply yum. I could say this instant pot pasta can be your saviour on busy weekdays.

It feels like, I have officially joined the Instant Pot camp as Instant Pot is my only goto Kitchen Gadget these days and I am excited about it too. So, Let me get back to the recipe.
Those who are new to cooking and don’t know about Instant pot, Let me tell you that An Instant Pot is an electronic multicooker. It has multiple functionalities and there are different models available in the market. The model I have is Instant pot Duo mini.
Ingredients to make instant pot pasta
For the sauce:
We need tomatoes, garlic, salt, your favourite herbs like oregano, black pepper and olive oil. In fact, I have already shared my favourite tomato sauce recipe here. This time I just made everything in instant pot.
Other Ingredients:
Once you are done with your sauce, You will need your favourite pasta, water to boil, salt and a little bit of oil.
Preparation of pasta
- First, Cook your pasta.
- Now, you need to make a sauce for the pasta which takes 10 mins roughly. I am using canned pasta sauce here but you can use your freshly blended tomato paste as well.
- Assemble your cooked pasta with sauce
- and you are good to go 😉

How to make Instant pot Pasta?
Cooking pasta in Instant pot
Add the pasta, water, oil, and salt to the inner pot of the IP. Mix them thoroughly.
Close the lid and make sure the vent is in the sealing position.
Select the “Pressure Cook” or “Manual” setting and set the cooking time to 4 minutes at high pressure.
When it beeps, press the cancel button and then carefully move the vent to the open position and release the pressure.
When the pressure is released completely, carefully open the lid. Drain the pasta.
Making sauce for pasta
Set the Instant Pot to Saute mode and add the olive oil. When the oil is hot enough, add the garlic, black pepper powder, tomato puree and seasonings like oregano and basil. You can add a pinch of chilli flakes too to make it spicy. Mix it well.
Keep your instant pot on saute mode for 1 min and 30 seconds and keep mixing the sauce.
Now add cooked pasta and mix it well. keep on “saute mode” for 2 to 3 mins.
Now press the cancel button and set the IP in the Keep Warm mode.
Add some cheese on the top. Skip the cheese, if you want to make it vegan.
Serve it hot.

Instructions

Notes
- You can use your choice of seasonings for the sauce. Even Ready made Italian seasoning tastes best in this recipe.
- Adding chili flakes in the recipe is completely optional.
- You can add parmesan or cheddar cheese in this recipe. I want to keep it simple so I skipped the cheese in this recipe.
I have a friend who has an Insta pot and has never used it. He swears he’s going to give it to me to use so that when the person who gave it to him comes to visit, it will show some wear and tear! I think the first thing I will make is this pasta with red sauce recipe.
