Classic Indian flatbread recipe with a home-style touch. This garlic naan is prepared on simple tawa and without yeast. The recipe is super easy with an exotic garlic flavor. The taste enhanced when a dollop of butter is added at the time of serving.
Naan remained a delicacy that was made in royal households. Though they are the perfect (and necessary) accompaniment to any dish, they have their very own unique identity and fan base.
One belief is that naan is founded around 2500 years ago in Egypt. earlier we used to have chapati and thick rotis without yeast. But this fermented naan version got fan-based after pairing with Mughlai cuisine. It is also a belief that the origin of the naan is Persian cuisine.
no matters who invented the naan recipe. But naan pairs Best with Mughlai cuisine and so that it becomes the delicay of the Indian royal families.
Naan recipe has many variations and it is very rich goes best with any curry. Naan is prepared from all purpose flour and fermented by yeast. It is usually an oven baked recipe OR tandoori recipe.
I am presenting myhome-style version here. I have prepared this naan without yeast. I used whole wheat flour along with maida to make it bit healthier and lighter.
The benefit of using whole wheat flour is, Naan will not get chewy after it cools down. This naan is a bit crunchy from outside and super soft inside in terms of texture. I found this recipe goes best with dal pakhtooni.
