Crinkle cookies are one of the most fascinating recipes I have tried so far. I mean hello, These are the perfect CRINKLE cookies we are talking about 🙂
What is a crinkle cookie?
Chocolate crinkles are a classic Christmas cookie with a soft and fudgy center and crispy powdered sugar outer layer. The cookie dough looks more like a cake batter and you will need to refrigerate it for some time before you bake the cookies. These crinkle cookies need to be rolled in powdered sugar before baking to get the beautiful cracks/crinkles on the top.
Why I love this recipe,
-Making cookies is my LOVE and I always wanted to try perfect crinkle-top cookies without eggs.
-This recipe requires no fancy ingredients – such a relief 😉
– Made without eggs 🙂
– Perfect balance of rich and chocolatey flavor and fudgy texture.
-Most important(for me)- my toddler approved this cookies 😉
How to make Chocolate crinkle cookies?
1 preparing cookie dough.
Gather all ingredients and transfer them into a mixing bowl. You can sift flour and cocoa powder just to avoid lumps before adding them to the bowl.
2 Chilling cookie dough for the BEST results.
Once everything is combined, mix well and you will get a cake-like dough. cover with cling film and refrigerate it for at least 1 hour. Overnight chilling is recommended.
3 making cookies.
after chilling the cookie dough, take it out from the refrigerator. Preheat your oven to 375˚F or 180˚C for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, take a portion of cookie dough and prepare a medium-sized ball. Rub this ball into powdered sugar and make sure the ball is coated well (this covered sugar will give a crinkle effect to cookies).
Place these coated balls in a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
4 baking cookies.
bake cookies for 15 minutes at 375˚F or 180˚C. Remove from the oven and make sure to cool it down properly.
The cookies are ready. Store in an air-tight container and enjoy.
How to make cookies vegan?
Replace milk with your favorite plant-based milk to make vegan crinkle cookies.
Can we store unbaked cookie dough?
You can prepare the dough beforehand and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Roll them in the powdered sugar just before you bake.
You can freeze it for up to 3 months. I would recommend dividing the dough into balls before freezing. Whenever you want to bake, thaw the dough ball for 30-40 minutes and roll them in the powdered sugar, and bake.
Storage
They should stay well for a week at room temperature. If you want to store them for longer, freeze them for up to 3 months.
