I am not a big fan of fresh juices. I usually like to chew the raw things like cucumber, beetroot, oranges etc. instead of consuming it as a juice. Chewing the fresh fruits also improves your teeth life you know. However, If you like the juices then it is recommended to consume it fresh. Try to avoid storing the juices. and apart from the juices and salads, There are many tasty ways to feed some healthy ingredients to your body and beetroot pulao is one of them 😉
back to the recipe, This pulao can be prepared under 30 mins so you can say big YES to the recipe on weekdays. I have used whole spices like cinnamon and bayleaf just to give the aromatic flavor to the rice. rest of the ingredients are very regular.
I always recommend using basmati rice when making any pulao or biryani recipes as These rice are long grains and has a unique aroma.

so, how to make beetroot pulao recipe? step by step photos:
Wash you beetroot, peel the skin, grate it and keep it aside.
meanwhile, soak the rice for 10 mins if possible. however, this step is totally optional.
heat oil in pan.
add cumin. When they crackle, add cinnamon and bay leaf.
Add onion and saute it for a while.
Also, add ginger paste and green chilies. mix them well.
Now, Add salt, coriander powder, and garam masala.
add grated beetroots and soaked rice.mix well.
add water and cover the pan with lid.
cook until the rice are cooked properly. It usually takes 15 to 20 mins on medium flame.
enjoy with your favorite dal, raita or just a plain curd.

- 1 bay leaf
- fresh coriander, for garnishing

- Sometimes, Rice took a longer time to cook. It usually depends on the water and quality of rice. Mine took 17 mins to cook.
- you can add diced beetroots instead of in grated form.
- you can add garlic as well. For this measurement, 1/2 tsp garlic paste is enough. I am avoding it.

We don’t consume beets enough as the boys are not too keen on them. However, we need all the blood boosting hemoglobin we can get and if it was masked in a delicious rice they might not even notice. Brilliant Priya! Just pinned.
