Start the instant pot in sauté mode and heat oil in it. Add cumin seeds.
1 tbsp oil, ¼ tsp cumin
Once the cumin seeds start to change colour, add the onions, chilli garlic paste and saute for 2 minutes.
½ onion (small size), 1 tbsp chilli garlic paste
Add tomatoes, turmeric, red chilli powder and salt. Stir and saute for 2 minutes.
½ tomato (small size), ¼ tsp red chili powder, salt to taste
Add the moong dal (wash dal before using it) and water. Stir it well. Pressure Cancel and close the lid with a vent in the sealing position.
1 cup split yellow moong dal, 3 cup water
Change the instant pot setting to manual or pressure cook mode at high pressure for 7 mins. After the instant pot beeps, let the pressure release naturally for in 7 minutes or release the pressure manually.
