Schezwan Rice vs. Fried Rice

The main difference between these to rice variety the use of Schezwan sauce.

As the name suggest, Schezwan sauce is the main ingredient to make schezwan rice. On the other side, Fried Rice is has a prominent flavor of soy sauce and chili sauce.

Ingredients to make Schezwan rice

Perfect steamed rice and a good quality of schezwan sauce are both the main ingredients of the recipe here. Rest I used spring onions, carrots, french beans, oil, salt, little bit of ginger and garlic.

Tips to make perfect Schezwan Rice

  • Always use cooled and grainy rice. Either you can cook fresh rice and cool it down completely. Or you can just use one day older pre-cooked steamed rice for this recipe.
  • You can use either homemae schezwan sauce or readymade schezwan sauce.
  • To get the smoky aroma, cook your vegetables on high flame.
  • You can use mushrooms along with the veggies.
  • You can even skip vegetables.

Can we store this schezwan rice?

You can store this rice. This Rice can stays fresh for 3 days when stored in refrigerator. I don’t recommend to store this rice for a longer period.

How to make Schezwan rice?

For this recipe, I am using precooked steamed rice and homemade schezwan sauce. Prepared your rice first and keep aside.

Heat oil in a pan and add ginger and garlic.

Add spring onions.

add and stir fry carrot, beans and capsicum. Add salt to taste. Quick note – I have already added salt in schezwan sauce and in rice. add salt accordingly.

Add black pepper powder and schezwan sauce.

mix well.

Add cooked rice and mix well.

simmer 4 mins on medium flame.

serve hot.

Ingredients 
 

  • 3+½ cups steamed rice
  • ¼ cup schezwan sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • ½ cup spring onion, chopped
  • salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper powder

Instructions
