Sabudana vada is a crispy, delicious petty or tikki recipe. It is a Maharashtrian snack recipe. This is a deep-fried snack recipe served with green chutney, tomato ketchup and it also tastes great with raw mango chutney.

Sabudana is a hindi term of “sago balls”. These vadas can be made as a snack or an appetizer. These are also popularly served on Indian Street Food stalls. These are typically served with curd, Tamarind Chutney, Coriander Chutney or even tomato ketchup.This recipe can be prepared in Vrat/fast as well. This is a perfect recipe for Navratri fasting.

To make this recipe, I suggest you to soak your sagos or sabudana for 4 hours at least or until it softens perfect. rest of the recipe is quite easy. You just need to boil your potatoes and mix everything with sabudana mixture. You required quite pre-preparation for this recipe as sabudana takes time to soften properly. rest the recipe will beready in 25 mins approx.

how to make sabudana vada recipe at home recipe with step by step photos:

  1. soak sabudana for 4 hour atleast.
  2. drain it and keep it aside. meanwhile, pressure cook your potatoes and keep aside.
  3. take a large mixing bowl.
  4. transfer potates and mash it.

  7. add salt and coriander leaves.
  8. add cumins.
  9. add grated ginger and green chili paste.
  10. add sugar to taste.
  11. add lemon juice.
  12. mix it well.
  13. take a medium size ball and prepare tikkis.
  14. heat oil in pan.
  15. slowly add tikkis one by one.
  16. deep fry the vadas until golden brown.
  17. serve with tomato sauce or green chutney.

Recipe notes,

  • you can add red chili powder and coriander powder as well.
  • If you are not making this recipe for your vrat then add rice flor OR corn flour little bit to add more crisp.
  • I always prepare peanut powder in advance and store in a refrigerator. to make it, Just crush a good quality peanuts to a smooth powder.

Ingredients  

  • ½ cup sabudana
  • 2 cups water, to soak sabudana
  • 4-5 medium potatoes, boiled
  • salt to taste
  • ¼ cup fresh coriander leaves
  • ½ cup peanut powder, * check notes
  • ½ tbsp sugar, adjust to your taste
  • ½ tsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp green chili paste, *adjust to your taste
  • ½ tbsp ginger grated
  • ¼ tsp cumin

Instructions

  • soak sabudana for 4 hour atleast.
