I used to throw dal in dustbin which is left from the last night dinner until I have this as a option. make delicious parathas out of it and serve it with any raita of your choice. I usually have dal fry 2 times a week in my meals. I used to have some leftover and this time I decided to make this paratha for our breakfast.😛

This recipe turned out very well for me.

I have used very thick dal here (dal-fry is thick in consistency) but still, there s no need of water to knead the dough.

Overall, this dal-paratha is very easy and very quick recipe if you have some leftover dal.

leftover dal paratha-how to make dal parotha

Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 15 minutes
Total Time 25 minutes
Serving Size 2 people

Ingredients 

  • 1 cup leftover dal
  • 1.5 cup whole wheat flour
  • ½ tsp oil
  • 2 tbsp water, optional
  • ghee / oil, to roast paratha

Instructions

  • take a mixing bowl.
  • Add flour,dal and oil.
  • Mix all ingredients well. Knead dough well.
  • Add water if needed (in my case,dal is sufficient to make soft dough)
  • Cover dough with lid for 5 min.
  • take a small ball of dough .
  • Prepare round roti.
  • Heat tava.
  • roast paratha on medium flame.Apply oil/ghee on both side while roasting.
  • roast paratha on both side until golden brown.
  • Serve hot with raita.
