Tips for making the perfect Tawa Pulao in an Instant Pot
– Use good quality basmati rice for the best results. Soaking the rice before cooking helps to achieve perfectly cooked grains.
– Adjust the spice level according to your preference. You can increase or decrease the amount of red chili powder to make the dish milder or spicier.
– Feel free to add your favorite vegetables to the Tawa Pulao. Bell peppers, carrots, and peas are commonly used, but you can experiment with other vegetables like corn, broccoli, or cauliflower.
– For added flavor, you can also include a pinch of garam masala or a squeeze of lemon juice before serving.
Notes
- You can either serve this recipe with pavbhaji or with raita.
- You can use carrots and cauliflower along with the other vegetables.
- I cooked my rice and vegetables in “pressure cook”(or “manual”) mode. I don’t make pulaos in “rice mode”.
- Both frozen and fresh vegetables give the same result.

With the high pressure and at 6 minutes, won’t the basmati rice get all mashed up ?
No, it won’t get all mashed up. If you add too much water then it will get mushy.
