This recipe is a quick solution for my weekend dhokla craving. I didn’t plan to make dhokla this weekend and I was literally craving for this today.I thought I should share this recipe with you.
This recipe is very tasty when it comes to the taste. It has a yogurt which adds the sourness in dhokla. It has a bread which provides a fermented base just like Khaman.
I added the tadka on the top just I used to add on my regular dhokla recipes. I must tell you, Any dhokla whether it is instant or regular ones are incomplete without Tempering/tadka 🙂
I think this is the perfect bachelor recipe and busy mommies can give a treat to their kiddo in 7 mins.I set this dhokla in the refrigerator for 15 mins because I have a little more time. But these bread dhokla usually takes 7-8 mins to set properly.

Ingredients
for yogurt mixture:
- 1 cup yogurt
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- a pinch of red chili powder, optional
- salt to taste
- sugar to taste, 1 tsp approx
- ½ tsp ginger grated
other:
- 6-8 bread slices
- dry coconut, for garnishing
for tadka/tempering:
- ½ tsp oil
- a pinch of mustard seeds
- a pinch of cumins
- 4 curry leaves
- 1 green chili , optional
Instructions
for yogurt mixture:
- take a bowl .
- add yogurt in that.
- add turmeric powder,red chili powder,salt,sugar and grated ginger.
- Whisk.
- Add more turmeric powder.
- whisk the yogurt well. Make sure to avoid lumps.
- keep aside.
Assembling:
- take a regular bread slices and cut the sides of each bread.
- take one bread slice and spread the yogurt mixture on that.
- place the other bread and spread yogurt mixture on that.
- repeat the process until stack completion. prepare a stack of 3 or 4 breads.
- refrigerate these dhokla for 7-10 mins.
- sprinkle some dry coconut powder.
- spread some tadka on dhokla. for tadka, heat oil.add mustards,cumins, curry leaves and green chilli.
- serve .
