Garlic and Cilantro rice is a flavorful rice dish you can serve with any curry. This rice is sauteed in butter and has some vibrant garlic green’s flavor. Yes, you read it right, This rice is made from garlic greens.
Now, This recipe is not a fried garlic rice recipe as it does not have soy sauce at all. This rice is more like normal flavoured rice loaded with cilantro and garlic. I think this is a perfect summer recipe.
what makes this rice unique?
Butter is the ingredient that makes this rice different. I must tell you that this rice is incomplete without butter. Did I tell you that I am very much inspired by Julia Child? Do you know what I like the most about her recipes? They are simple and flavorful. And thanks to her, I now use butter in my recipes without any hesitation 😉
You know on some days, you just need something simple, something easy yet a tasty recipe for a satisfactory meal. And this cilantro rice serves the purpose.
method of cooking
This cilantro rice can be done in an instant pot as well as on a stovetop too. Both the method will give the exact result. However, I am sharing instant pot method only as I could not shoot the stovetop method for some reason. I will update it soon.
Whenever cooking any rice, Make sure to follow the rice and water ratio to get the perfect result. For this recipe I am using 1:2 proportion meaning that 2 cups of water is used for the 1 cup of rice.

Priya,
What a lovely way to bring some vibrancy to the rice through cilantro, I love the way you have combined it with Garlic. Thanks for an amazing recipe.
We have not tried using the instant pot for rice. Will have to try that soon. We usually make cilantro rice with jasmine rice but will have to try it with basmati. Thanks for this quick and easy recipe.
This looks great! Super way to add a bit of pop to rice (both flavor and color). Thanks!
Looks wonderful. Priya!
I love cilantro. Love!! This rice is great to have at the ready all the time as it goes with so many things. 🙂 ~Valentina
