homemade strawberry cinnamon jam

You don’t have to be PRO to make ultimate, better-than-store-bought jams at home 🙂 Homemade jams are best, fresh, and do I need to say without preservatives?!

If you ask me about my favorite jam flavors then it’s always blueberry cinnamon and strawberry cinnamon. Fall🍁 is here and there has to be cinnamon(at least for me) during fall and winter 🙂 This jam has a perfect fruity fall vibe because it is made with the following ingredients:

  • Fresh strawberries
  • Sugar
  • Lemon juice
  • Cinnamon and that’s it 🙂

Ingredients

ingredients to make homemade strawberry jam

Fresh Ripe Strawberries – the best quality of berries makes the best jam.

Sugar– The right amount of sugar is important for the right amount of sweetness. I am not using pectin here.

Fresh Lemon Juice – Fresh lemon juice will help to activate the natural pectin in the fruit and balance the taste of jam.

Cinnamon – fragrant cinnamon stick or cinnamon powder.

Instructions

1. Preparing berries for jam – thoroughly wash strawberries in running water and chop them finely.

fresh, washed and chopped berries

2. Preparing jam – In a pan add, chopped strawberries, sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon.

Cook everything together on a medium flame for about 10 minutes. Make sure to keep stirring the jam. Mash berries using a masher or the back of your spatula.

IF you are using induction stove top or electric one, make sure to remove pan from the after turning OFF the stove in 10 minutes.

cool down the mixture properly and transfer it into a sterilized jar. Refrigerate it and enjoy 🙂

Why add lemon juice when making strawberry jam?

Adding lemon juice to the jam has two benefits,

  • It enhances the taste of the jam and helps to balance the sweetness.
  • It helps to activate natural pectin which is in fruit already to get the perfect texture of the jam.

Is strawberry jam better with or without pectin?

Strawberries are naturally low in pectin, so a batch without pectin requires a longer cooking time to reach a gel stage than a strawberry jam made with added pectin.

Is strawberry jam a dairy product?

No, strawberry jam is not a dairy product as no dairy is added to the recipe.
