It’s been a long time since I spoke with you all. Is it a year already?! It is almost 1.5 years since I gave my last update. How are you guys???? Hope you all are doing wonderful. But now, I am planning to be more persistent with my talks going forward.

All this time, Mihika has kept me busy. I was (and still am) busy adjusting to my new role. Every day, I have been learning something new. Every day, I am getting better at being a mom. Every day, I am getting better at understanding my kid. I strongly believe this is a life-long process. It’s a journey and like everything else in life, the fun is in the journey, not just the destination.

Once my kid had her passport, it was time for us to visit India. It was already 2.5 years since I had left India and I was so excited, eager, and desperate to visit India. I belong to a huge family, and everyone was eager to meet me and my kid. So, I knew it was going to be a grand reunion once I was in India. My in-laws, my parents, my brother, my family members, my cousins, and each one of them were equally excited to meet us. I was in India for almost 7.5 months and it was splendid. I met all my friends too from Pune (if you don’t know, Pune is my 2nd home). Perhaps, I will write about my India trip in the future.

A few days back, on my Instagram, I received a big “YES” to restart Curry Nation Talks episodes and frankly speaking, I was also missing “Curry Nation Talks” badly.

Let’s get started!

August 2023 – Photography resumes, Beach picnic, Puja held by our friends, toddler’s tantrums, and us 🙂

As I have said earlier, I am holding the camera after 1.5 years. I was quite nervous to come in front of the camera after having a baby and can you imagine, I had to Google “how to click pictures with remote” because I forgot where to find these options on the camera :(. But everything is coming back to me now :). So all is good now. My man of the house tells me that is more important to stay consistent than to have occasional bursts of motivation. So I am trying to follow that nowadays :).

Ever since we moved to Canada in 2019, we wanted to visit a beach. I and my husband, both come from a small town in India, which happens to be a port and has really amazing beach. We grew up going to the beach almost every day. So, the visit to a beach was something we have been looking forward to for the last 3.5 years. And that wish came true in August 2023. We had a one-day trip to Port Elgin (https://visitportelgin.ca/). We were accompanied by 3 other family-friends. A scenic road trip, lot of home-cooked food, fun at the beach, and chit-chat with all my friends turned this day into a memorable day. And Mihika was awake for a whole day for the first time. And she was thoroughly enjoying her visit to this beach. She didn’t want to come out of the water, we really had a hard to keeping her away. All in all, we couldn’t have asked for a better day-trip.

Then, one of our closest friends organized Pooja(Indian ceremony). It was followed by “prasadam” at the temple. When we went to the temple, we didn’t think it would be that big affair. But the temple organizes “prasadam” for all the devotees every Tuesday, and anyone who visits the temple can have it. There were at least 900 devotees who had “prasadam” on the day. And that is majestic. Without any kind of fuzz, everyone is served the same food, and without any discrimination, crossing. the barriers of age, gender, and race are really a site worth seeing. And when you see them finishing their plate, you see the satisfaction on their faces. A sense of fulfillment that their hunger is truly satisfied. I wish to be a part of more and more such events in my life going forward. This occasion also gave me a chance to better connect with one of my friends. We were more of an acquaintance before this, but now I can say I know way more about her and I enjoyed spending time with her. For Mihika too, this was a different experience. She was really having fun playing with other kids at the temple. And she was in no mood to stop at all. When we left the temple at night, she was really exhausted and was asleep even before we reached home.

We are planning to watch a movie in a theatre with our kiddo so wish us luck 🙂 I am still learning to handle unexpected toddler tantrums 😉 by the way, we are trying lots of new food these days. My toddler loves sauteed broccoli 🥦.

Coming to the blog, We have crossed 6500 followers on Instagram. This month our Facebook page didn’t see any growth in terms of page likes but we observed that our page engagement is improving. Also, we are slowly getting our email subscribers back which were lost when the blog was in an inactive state.

We are trying to post new recipes every week and short videos on our social media.
