or 1 medium onion

turmeric powder

red chili powder

mix vegetables:

potato
chopped

brinjals
chopped

carrots

Instructions
take a bowl and mix your lentils first.wash it in running water. keep aside.
heat oil/
ghee
in cooker.
add mustard seeds. when they crackle add cumins.
add green chilies, garlic and onion. saute it for a while.
add chopped vegetables.
add turmeric powder, red chili powder and coriander powder. add salt to your taste.
add lentils.
add water and mix. also, add pinch of asafoetida.
cover the lid of pressure cooker and pressure cook it for 4-5 whistles on medium flame.
sprinkle some coriander on the top and also add
some ghee
on the top.
serve hot.

Notes
you can use your choice of vegetables like capsicum, cabbage, broccoli etc.
you can even add ghee in tadka preparation as oil and ghee both will taste great.
always cook khichadi on medium flame.
