toor dal

chopped ,1 medium

tomato
chopped,1 medium

teaspoon
red chili powder

teaspoon
turmeric powder

teaspoon
coriander powder
salt to taste
fresh coriander
for garnishing
Instructions
Boil you dal first. to boil, wash toor dal and chana dal well.
Add dals and water and pressure cook dal for 4 whistles or 15 min on medium flame.
Mash your dal well and keep it aside.
heat kadai and add oil.
Add cumins. when they crackle, add garlic,ginger and green chilies.
Saute them until golden brown.
Now, add onions and saute well on high flame.(until golden brown)
Add tomatoes,salt , red chili powder, turmeric powder and mix them well.
cook tomatoes until mushy.
Now, add boiled dal and cook the mixture for 5 to 8 mins on medium flame.
Garnish with coriander.
Serve hot.

Notes
You can use a combination of ½ cup toor dal and ½ cup moong dal in this recipe.
Use ghee for enhanced flavor and taste instead of oil.
it is recommended to soak both dals in water for 30 minutes before cooking.
