Easy,crispy masala bhakhari recipe

Masala bhakhri is savory and crispy puri like snack recipe which is perfect to beat your tea time hunger.This crisp bhakhari goes best with indian tea.I don’t know how many of you tasted this masala bhakhari recipe.I have tasted this recipe at my friend’s home and i – no actually me and hubby both just loved it.I tried to replicate that recipe in my own kitchen.

Bhakhari is nothing but thick bread which served with indian curry.There are diffirent variations in bhakhari according to the region. Like we have thick and crisp while in maharashtra bhakhri is made  from rice flour etc. I will definitely share authentic gujrati style bhakhari soon on blog. stay tuned for that.

For now, I am sharing another variation of bhakhari. The serving style is different for this masala crisp bhakhari as it serves along with tea as a savory snack.
You can’t consider this style as a type of indian bread.


This masala crisp bhakhari is made from whole wheat flour. All regular spices are used in this recipe. This is perfect recipe for picnic as well.
because this masala crisp bhakhari is thick and some what bigger than puri, I think it is perfect for teatime hunger.

Recipe Details for making Masala Crisp Bhakhari below:

  Recipe Namkeen fried bhakhari -how to make crispy bhakhari

Prep Time :15 min
Cook Time :20  min
Total Time :35 min
Main Ingredient : whole wheat flour
Serves :10 medium bhakhari
Cuisine :Gujarat


  • Whole Wheat flour – 1 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • sooji/semolina/rava – 1 tbsp
  • garlic paste – 1 tsp
  • red chili powder – 1/2 tsp
  • turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
  • oil for deep frying
  • water for making dough [ 1/2 cup approx]


  1. Take a bowl and transfer all dry ingredients like wheat floour,sooji,red chili powder,turmeric powder and garlic paste in it.
  2. add oil in dough and  start mixing it.
  3. Add water as per your need.
  4. Make a fine dough and cover with lid. Allow your dough to be set for 10 min.
  5. Divide your dough in equal portion.
  6. make thick puri.
  7. apply cuts on puri.keep puri aside.
  8. Heat oil in kadai.
  9. Deep fry bhakhris on medium flame until golden brown.
  10. serve with tea.
    • you can store these bhakharis for 10 days atleast in air tight container.
