Mango Mastani Recipe, how to make pune’s Mango mastani at home

Mango Mastani-Pune’s Famous Drink Recipe in Easy Steps 

Mango Mastani is a thick shake recipe which serve with icecream. Being punekar, I have tried mastani so many times and at so many places, but so far my favorite is “Sujata Mastani”. If you ever get the chance to being in pune, I Highly suggest you to try sujata mastani once.They also have lot of varieties like kesar mastani,chocolate mastani ,vanilla mastani etc.
I don’t know how the name is formed for this drink. I guess the name is given after peshwa bajirav’s wife mastani.
You may found several versions of mastani recipe but i am feeling proud to share my unique version of this mango mastani recipe.


I actually observed and tried to recognize the flavors in sujata’s mango mastani every-time i had.I am happy to share my experiment with you guys. I actuaaly tried to replicate sujata’s style mango mastani here and hoping for appreciation.
I may be wrong but i have tried both versions with and without mango rabri milk and the version i am going to share today comes out well for me.

I have used No churn Mango ice cream, Mango rabri, dryfruits and lots of saffron for making this Claassic mango mastani mastani is rich and satisfying as a dessert. you will be blown away with the simplicity and ease with which its made as well with its rich intense mango flavor.

cream or mango ice cream can be made at home or brought from the stores.

  Mango Mastani Recipe

Prep Time :10 min

Cook Time :30 min
Total Time :40 min
Main Ingredient : Mangoes
Serves :2 to 3 glass
Cuisine :Pune, Maharashtra

Ingredients for Mango Milk:

  • 1 cup full cream milk
  • Sugar to taste [2 tbsp approx]
  • 8 to 10 saffron threads
  • Mango pulp – 1/2 cup

Other Ingredients: 

  • 4 to 5 scoops Mango icecream[1.5 cups approx]
  • 1/4 cup mix dry-fruits[cashews, walnut,almonds,pistachios],chopped

Equipment needs: 

Method for Mango Milk:

  1. Transfer full cream milk in non-stick or heavy bottom pan.
  2. Boil the milk on high flame for 20 mins or until it reduces the half of its amount.
  3. Add sugar and saffron threads.
  4. Mix them well.
  5. Add Mango pulp and mix well. Remove the flame.
  6. You can add half amount of dry fruits in milk at this stage as well.
  7. Keep this milk aside for 10 min.


  1. Take serving glasses and cover half of them with mango milk.
  2. Cover the remaining with ice-cream.
  3. Garnish with dry-fruits.
  4. Serve chilled.


  • you may use vanilla ice-cream instead of mango ice cream as well.
  • You can add mango pulp at last along with ice-cream but you need to mix well..
