I am giving this recipe name as “Jhatpat OR quick Potato curry” because it will be ready in just 10 min.I actually made this recipe today.I was quite confused what to make and hubby wants to eat something light and homely food.After thinking and discussing about 3 hours with NO-RESULT, I decided to make this Mommy’s special Jhatpat Aloo recipe with Bhakhri.

Subji OR Curry is called “SHAK” in our gujarati language.Bhakhari and Shak is the most staple and comfy food in our home as we make it often.In my home ,I prepare Bhakhari and shak sometimes 4 days in week. I will upload gujarati bhakhri recipe very soon.
Today’s recipe as name suggest, I prepared it in just 10 min. You required very basic ingredients like salt,red chili powder,Potatoes and onions.
I am not adding garlic in this recipe.I can say, It is perfect recipe for beginners. I know many people doesn’t like Potatoes at all because of its plain taste. If you are Potato lover like me then you will definitely like this recipe.

Ingredients:

  • Potatoes – 2 medium size
  • Onion – 1 medium size
  • Tomato -1 small size [optional]
  • Salt – to taste
  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Cumins – 1 tsp 
  • Asafoetida – a pinch
  • Water – 1 cup
  • Red chili powder – a pinch
  • Turmeric powder – a pinch
  • Coriander leaves – for garnishing

    Method/Assembling: 

    1. Wash potato well in running water.dice them or cut them and keep it aside.
    2. Cut onions also.finely chopped tomato and keep it aside.
    3. Heat oil in pressure cooker.
    4. Add Cumin,when they crackle add asafoetida and onions.
    5. Saute them well.
    6. Add chopped potatoes and remaining masala like salt,red chili powder and turmeric powder.
    7. Mix them well.
    8. Add Water and pressure cook it for 4 whistles OR for 7-8 min on medium flame.
    9. Check potatoes are soft enough.
    10. Garnish with coriander leaves.
    11. Serve hot with roti,bhakhari or paratha.
